Better Than Cindy's Cinnamon Rolls

I love yeast breads, especially sweet ones. And Cindy's cinnamon rolls at the Galleria are always a treat. These are just as good and very simple when you use your bread machine to make the dough. Stick all the ingredients in the machine, sit back and get ready to smell pure deliciousness.

  • Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Place the above ingredients in the bread machine in the order listed. Set your bread machine to the dough cycle. Once the cycle is complete place the dough on a floured surface. Let rise 10 minutes. While the dough is resting combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/3 cup melted butter. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a rectangle ( I did this on top of a sheet of wax paper covered in flour. The dough is super sticky so it is easier to roll when it is on top of the paper). Make sure the rolling pin is floured. Spread cinnamon sugar mixture over rectangle. Roll the dough and cut into rolls with dental floss. Place in 2 8-inch cake pans. Let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. I usually turn the oven on warm, put the pans inside and leave the door open. Take the rolls out and preheat the oven to 350. Cook 15 or until golden brown. Cover with frosting while warm.

**This can also be made into a delicious cinnamon bread by not cutting the rolled dough into cinnamon rolls. Cut the roll in half and place in two loaf pans. Let rise for 30 minutes and then bake until browned.

Frosting:
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Beat butter and cream cheese together until light and fluffy. Slowly add sugar. Mix in vanilla. Spread on warm rolls.

**Today I learned a "do not" with this recipe. Don't make the dough in the machine, go to sleep, and then make the bread when you wake up. The yeast over ferments and it tastes disgusting. Trust me.
