This is such an easy and delicious recipe! The sausage, spinach, and garlic make a very flavorful filling. I made a 13X9 pan plus another smaller pan with 8 shells. Make this for your next Italian night!
Ingredients:
1 box jumbo shells, cooked
1 lb Italian sausage (I bought Publix's mild Italian sausage. I wasn't in links, it looked like ground beef)
1 pkg frozen spinach
1 (8 oz) container ricotta cheese
1 pkg Italian blend shredded cheese
1 egg
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 jar prepared pasta sauce
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Brown Italian sausage in a medium skillet and drain. Cook spinach in the microwave until done. Press between paper towels until most of the liquid is gone. In a large bowl, combine sausage, 1/2 the package of spinach, ricotta cheese, 1/2 shredded cheese, egg, garlic, and seasonings. Mix well. Place a spoonful of the mixture in each shell. Place crease down in a greased 13 X 9 casserole dish. Pour pasta sauce over the top of the shells. Top with remaining cheese. Bake for 30 minutes or until sauce bubbles.
