Budget Grocery Shopping and Menus #1

One of my favorite things to do as a new wife is to cook wholesome, diverse, well-rounded meals. This can be tough on a budget. I plan on posting my grocery deals, along with the links to the recipes I will use throughout the week. Some of them will be easy, some a little more difficult. I hope that you and I will both learn how to combine grocery store deals with coupons to make delicious meals at a low cost! Enjoy!

I spent $60 in groceries this week. I was able to get shrimp, salmon, a pork tenderloin, 3 chicken breasts, lots of fresh produce, and other great items!

Deals of the Week:
- Green Giant Seasoned Steamers: B1G1 at Publix, use with $.50 manufacturer's coupon. Publix allows you to only buy 1 in a B1G1 deal. They also double manufacturer's coupons $.50 or less. So I payed $.30!! (Original price: $2.59)
- Strawberries: On sale for $ 1.67 at Publix.
- Chicken breasts: On sale for $1.99/lb at Belle Foods.
- Peppers: On sale for $1 each at Belle Foods
- Pork Roast: Regular price is $4.46. Use $1.00 off coupon. $3.46
- Eat Smart Veggies: On sale for $1.67 at Publix
- Green beans: $.99/lb at Publix

Menu for the Week:
Monday: Louisiana Cajun Shrimp, Dirty Rice (Zatarain's), Sauteed Red and Yellow Peppers
* Amount spent on meal: $7
Tuesday: Honey Mustard Pork Tenderloin, Orzo, Steamed Broccoli (Eat Smart Broccoli Florets from Publix)
* Amount spent on meal: $6.50
Thursday: Salmon with an Avocado Salsa (will reduce the recipe for 2 peeps), Yellow Rice, Cornbread
* Amount spent on meal: $11
Friday: Jalapeno Popper Chicken, Green beans, Green Giant Seasoned Steamers Potatoes with peppers
* Amount spent on meal: $ 5.50
Saturday: Orange Chicken
* Amount spent on meal: $3 (This meal uses a lot of leftovers from previous meals. I used leftover broccoli, peppers, onion from the previous meals)
Sunday: Biscuits and Gravy ( I will also cut this recipe in half and use skim milk instead of whole)
* Amount spent on meal: $3.75

* Amount spent does not include pantry staples.

Helpful shopping hints:
- Check Publix and Belle Foods weekly deals on Wednesday's. Pay attention to the B1G1 deals. You can always just get one of each item.
- Use www.krazycouponlady.com to print coupons.
- Buy items when they are on sale, but don't buy on sale items that you don't normally use.
